A SHATTERED WORLD

We now live in an etherealised, shattered
world - because of computers and the internet.
The global village is a myth, when the family living next door is
starving.
We already began living in a fragmented
world in the 1990's; this soon became a fractured world by the 2000's; and now
the world is completely shattered.
People were already beginning to strive
for materialism and conformity in the 1980's; this deteriorated to people
striving for mediocrity by the 1990's - and now the world has progressed to
people striving for stupidity.
It is a world where computers have become
more human[ised] and humans have become more computerised - their electronic
gadgets having become extensions of themselves.
People have the idea that they are in
contact with more people across the world, but they actually have less people
to talk to, or confide in.
People have the illusion that they know
more, but they only have superficial notions of many inconsequential things
directed by the mess media, including microsoft, google and yahoo 'news'. They glide pass images and words, like the
numerous screens they flip through - and so they glide by friends and
acquaintances, deleting actual friends from their memory in an instant.
Of the 5,000 friends people have on
facebook or linkedin, who will give them a glass of iced water on a hot day, let
alone a plate of food or a place to sleep, if they are hungry or homeless?
